As for dogs, they usually require more space to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. Cats can be easily trained to use the litter box, dogs need to be let out of the house/apartment every time nature calls (this could be many times in a day). Some dog breeds can shed a lot of their fur, you need to groom them regularly, especially if they are kept indoors.
Research the temperament and breed of a pet before you make your choice. Dogs are more vocal than cats and will make themselves heard when they are not happy about something, while cats quietly purr and walk away, if not agitated. Dogs usually have an average lifespan of 8-10 years, while cats are known to live longer, an average of 13-15 years.
